The Spanish presidio drawn by a visiting expedition artist

Louis Choris sketched the presidio during a visit in the autumn of 1816 and published the plate in his Voyage pittoresque autour du monde in Paris in 1822. It is among the earliest surviving images of the Spanish garrison at San Francisco. The New York Public Library holds this impression.
