BBC Begins Regular TV Broadcasts

On November 2, 1936, the BBC launches the world's first regular high-definition television service from Alexandra Palace, London — alternating Baird's mechanical 240-line system and Marconi-EMI's 405-line electronic system, finally settling on the latter in 1937. The subject dates from 1936; this photograph was taken in 2012.
