Color Television Arrives

1954

Color television reaches U.S. homes in 1954 as NBC broadcasts the Tournament of Roses Parade using RCA's compatible color system, adopted by the FCC in December 1953. Color would take a decade to become the norm, but the standard set here defined American TV for a generation.
