Larry Page, co-founder of Google — the PageRank-driven search engine that grew out of his Stanford PhD work in 1998. Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Stanford PhD students, incorporate Google Inc. on September 4, 1998. Their PageRank algorithm — ranking pages by inbound link count weighted by source authority — is dramatically better than competitors.
