The collection's initial mint was restricted to PROOF Collective members and a subset of allowlist participants; the mint price was 2.5 ETH per Moonbird. The collection sold out within three hours and produced approximately $200 million in primary-sale revenue plus substantial subsequent secondary volume — making it one of the largest-revenue PFP launches in NFT history. Rose, the former Digg CEO and prominent technology investor, brought substantial mainstream-media attention to the launch and had been one of the most publicly visible NFT collector-figures of the 2021-22 period.
