Analysing First World War posters

A school history lesson that takes First World War recruitment and home-front posters apart, asking what each image claims, who it addresses and what it wants the viewer to do. Working through the common devices - the accusing figure, the threatened family, the shamed bystander - shows how few moves the form actually needs. Source-analysis teaching aimed at younger students.
