Russian Revolution posters

A British Library curator presents revolutionary and civil-war era posters from the collection, produced when print was the fastest way to reach a scattered and often illiterate population. The designs strip politics down to a few readable signs - the worker, the wedge, the parasite, red against white - so a passer-by absorbs the argument in the second it takes to walk past. Poster art was the Bolshevik state's first mass medium, before radio or film could carry the load.
