Riefenstahl on Hitler's oratory
FEB 25 2015
An interview clip in which Leni Riefenstahl describes the effect Hitler's speaking had on a crowd. It is useful as evidence of how the regime's own image-makers understood mass emotion - the rally treated as a performance to be staged and shot rather than an event to be reported. Her recollections are self-serving testimony from the person who built the imagery, and should be read that way.
