American propaganda in the First World War

A short classroom account of the Committee on Public Information, created days after the United States declared war in 1917 and known as the Creel Committee after its chairman. It combined posters, a daily official bulletin, film and the Four Minute Men who gave scripted talks in cinemas. Its significance is structural: it was the first peacetime-democracy attempt to organise domestic opinion at national scale.
