Socialist realism in Soviet and Chinese posters

An informal visual analysis of Sino-Soviet friendship posters of the 1950s and the conventions of socialist realism. The recurring devices are readable: idealised muscular bodies, the upward diagonal gaze towards an off-frame future, and two figures sharing a single frame to make an alliance between states look like a personal bond. The video reads the aesthetics rather than repeating the political message.
