Arab Traders Reach the Aldabra Group
916
The Seychelles Islands Foundation dates the first reported human contact with Aldabra to Arab traders in 916 AD, working the routes between the Swahili coast and the Indies. The attribution is traditional — no primary Arab document naming the atoll in that year has been traced — but the name they left behind stuck.
