Aldabra Passes to Britain

After the capture of Mauritius and Mahé in the Napoleonic Wars, Aldabra passed with the rest of the Seychelles into British hands. Every later concession, lease and protection order over the atoll runs through the colonial government at Port Louis — including the one Darwin would petition sixty years later.
