Wilson Tells the Commons Aldabra Will Not Proceed

In the Economic Situation statement Harold Wilson said: "In overseas terms, we have decided not to proceed with the Aldabra project — the establishment of a staging post in the British Indian Ocean territory." Earlier that same day Denis Healey had refused to answer written questions about frigatebird strikes and airfield walls, telling members to wait for the Prime Minister.
