The Research Station Opens on Picard

Construction begun in 1969 finished with a permanent station at Settlement, giving scientists year-round presence on an atoll that had been visited perhaps four times in a century. Continuous occupation by researchers is what makes Aldabra's long-run monitoring datasets possible at all.
