Wharton Charts Aldabra for the Admiralty

W. J. L. Wharton, later Hydrographer of the Navy, carried out survey work that fixed the atoll's shape, passes and anchorages for the next century. The Admiralty sheet covering Aldabra, Cosmoledo and Farquhar dates from the following year and was still the working chart when the airfield surveyors arrived in the 1960s.
