The Charles and the Elizabeth Chart the Islands

A running survey made from the boat Charles and the tartan Elizabeth produced the first detailed plan of the Aldabra islands, later engraved and published by the East India Company hydrographer Alexander Dalrymple. It is the oldest genuinely usable picture of the atoll that exists.
