The Atoll Drowns

During the Last Interglacial high stand the whole of Aldabra went under, wiping out every land animal on it — a total ecological reset that later made the atoll a natural laboratory for watching recolonisation happen from scratch. The Aldabra Limestone that forms the land surface today has been radiometrically dated to roughly 118,000–136,000 years old.
