Second Treaty of Tirana: defensive alliance with Italy

The Second Treaty of Tirana, a defensive alliance running twenty years, was signed on 22 November 1927. It brought an Italian general and some forty officers to train the Albanian army, opened Vlorë to the Italian navy, and delivered large consignments of Italian arms. Together the two treaties moved Albania into the Italian sphere and toward de facto protectorate status.
