Xhelal Zogu, the half-brother passed over

Prince Xhelal Zogu, born at Burgajet on 14 May 1881, was Xhemal Pasha's eldest son and the expected heir to the family leadership, but was passed over in favour of his younger half-brother Ahmet. He trained as a lawyer in Istanbul, served as a state attorney and was a leading judge in the trials following the 1915 peasant revolt. He was elected to the Albanian parliament three times and died in Istanbul on 26 February 1944. Sources do not explain why the elder half-brother was passed over. Any account giving a reason is speculating.
