Albanian assembly offers the crown to Victor Emmanuel III

On 12 April 1939 an Albanian assembly voted to depose Zog and offer the crown to Victor Emmanuel III of Italy in personal union. Mussolini declared Albania a protectorate under the Italian king. The vote gave the occupation a constitutional form.
