Schools and teacher training expanded

Zog's government built new primary schools across the country and established Albania's first teacher-training institutions, while pushing for the education of girls. In a country with very low literacy and almost no state school system in 1925, the expansion was substantial in relative terms. The measures are cited by those who read the reign as genuinely modernising. No reliable figures for schools built or literacy change under Zog were found in the sources consulted. The direction of the policy is documented; its scale is not, and specific percentages quoted elsewhere should be checked.
