Governor of Shkodër

Zogu served as governor of Shkodër from 1920 to 1921, extending his authority from the Mat highlands into the largest city of northern Albania. Shkodër was the centre of Catholic northern Albania and of rival highland clans. The posting broadened his base beyond his own tribal district.
