The House of Zogu's traditional origin
1490
The dynasty traces itself to Zogu Pasha, said to have settled in the Mat region in the late fifteenth century. Local tradition holds that the family's standing began with a warrior from the village of Zogaj who defeated an Ottoman official mistreating local families. The account is traditional rather than documentary. This is explicitly local tradition, not documented genealogy, and the date is approximate to 'late fifteenth century'. It should be presented as the family's own founding story.
