The 1924 counter-revolution force

Zogu's invading force numbered over 1,000 Mati tribesmen and White Russian volunteers financed by Belgrade, the Russians under the command of Ilja Miklashevsky. The first clash came in the Peshkopi area where Noli's reserve army was based; Peshkopi fell and the commander Elez Isufi was fatally wounded. Tirana was taken on 24 December.
