The hidden-camera prank format arrived on German television in 1961 with WDR's 'Vorsicht, Kamera', presented by Chris Howland, adapted from the American Candid Camera created by Allen Funt. It established the template later developed into Germany's dominant prank show, 'Verstehen Sie Spaß?'.
