Dutch TV: the Leaning Tower of Pisa has collapsed

On 1 April 1960 the Dutch television news announced that the Leaning Tower of Pisa had fallen over. The report drew a large volume of shocked and grieving reactions from viewers, and is remembered as one of the best-known Dutch April Fools' hoaxes of the broadcast era.
