MIT's balloon erupts at the Harvard-Yale game
1982
During the Harvard-Yale football game, a large weather balloon painted with MIT inflated out of the ground at the 50-yard line and burst, an intervention in a rivalry MIT was not part of. The Boston Herald summarised the result as 'MIT 1, Harvard-Yale 0'. It is the classic example of the MIT hack as a piece of public theatre staged on someone else's stage.
