The YouTube "adpocalypse" begins

The Times of London reported that major brands' advertising was running against extremist content on YouTube, and within a week more than 250 advertisers including McDonald's, AT&T and Walmart pulled campaigns. YouTube responded with stricter advertiser-friendly guidelines. Prank and shock channels were among the hardest hit, as content built on conflict and distress became categorically unmonetisable.
