First rickroll: the fake GTA IV trailer

In May 2007 anticipation for the first Grand Theft Auto IV trailer overwhelmed Rockstar's servers, and a 4chan user posted what appeared to be a working mirror on the /v/ board. The link instead opened Rick Astley's 1987 music video. The prank spread within days and took its name by analogy with the existing duckroll. Note: the widely repeated 'Halo 3 origin' claim is unsubstantiated.
