Dismaland opens in Weston-super-Mare
AUG 21 2015
Banksy converted a derelict lido into what he called a 'bemusement park', a dystopian inversion of Disneyland described as 'a family theme park unsuitable for children'. It featured work by 58 invited artists alongside a distressed Cinderella carriage and sullen staff in Mickey Mouse ears. It ran five weeks to 27 September 2015 and drew around 150,000 visitors, with materials afterwards shipped to Calais to build shelters at the refugee camp.
