Wichita settles with the Finch family for $5 million

In March 2023 the City of Wichita approved a $5 million settlement with Andrew Finch's family. A federal appeals court had ruled in July 2022 that the civil claim against the officer could proceed, rejecting his assertion of qualified immunity at that stage. The settlement addressed the police shooting itself, a separate question from the criminal liability of the three men who set the call in motion.
