People magazine ran an online write-in poll ahead of its '50 Most Beautiful People' issue. Howard Stern told his radio listeners to write in Hank Nasiff Jr., a Stern Show regular. Hank finished first with roughly 230,000 votes, far ahead of Leonardo DiCaprio's ~14,500. It is the earliest well-documented mass hijacking of a corporate online poll.
